How the calculation works
Total cost = production costs (materials, packaging, equipment) + labour (hours × your hourly rate) + postage cost. Profit = selling price + postage charged − total cost − marketplace fees. Profit margin = profit ÷ selling revenue; markup = profit ÷ total cost. The break-even price accounts for marketplace fees that rise with the price, so it’s the true minimum you can charge without losing money.
